Child within me,
Child who loves the child I am,
Child who walks with me always,
Open my heart to You.
Let me know Your peace.
Let me know Your littleness,
Win me by Your sweet dependence
On Mary and Joseph.
How can it happen
That the Almighty God
Lies helpless,
An infant,
In an animal shelter?
Tell me, Baby Savior.
Your vivid infant eyes,
Wide and wise
Hold mine for a long timelessness
And impart all I need to absorb.
